Week 6 - Computer Literacy

Nice job the past two weeks with your blog posts and weekly papers. I'm very impressed with the tremendous improvement in the blog posts since week 1 - for fun go find your week 1 post and compare to your week 5 post - I bet you'll be quite impressed with yourself!

I'm back from China and had a wonderful time.  Here is a picture of me at the Great Wall.

And here is me at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) doing a lecture on debate with around 70 students:

By the way, I was informed that at BFSU the female-male ratio is about 7-1!  Definitely saw that in my lecture. All in all an amazing trip!  Thanks for your patience in getting back your weekly papers and grades.

Blog Posts

This week we'll be exploring the idea of computer literacy and how we can select the most appropriate technology for our classroom.  The assignments page as well as Blackboard have suggested blog post topics but as always please feel free to do a different subject if it would work better for you.  The weekly paper has also been posted.

Final Project or Paper

If we have not arranged for your final project or paper please contact me as soon as possible so you will have enough time to finish the assignment.  A few students are creating web pages for their classes, another is creating a blog, and another is creating a new unit plan with PowerPoints, activities, and smart board lessons. I'm excited that the final project will be relevant and helpful to each specific student.

We only have two weeks left of blog posts and weekly papers.  As a reminder, the final project/paper is due by noon on Saturday, July 2.  It should be posted to the course blog so each of us can read and benefit from the work you put into your final.

Please post a comment to this blog post with your blog post subject for this week so we can avoid duplicates. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

  10. Hi Danny,
I've noticed a couple of times you said you could open links or view videos and I'm wondering why and what I can do. I always go back and click on them and they always work for me. In addition, I find it very frustrating that when I am creating my blog post and format it the way I want it and view the preview, it often does not post the way it looked on preview or on drafting. Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Ceic
