Create Stunning Video Slideshows
"Turn your photos, video clips, and music into video masterpieces to share with everyone. Fast, free and shockingly easy."
Animoto in 60 seconds...
Animoto for Teachers:
1. Animoto offers three different plans. Although Animoto plus is only $5.00/month, I would assume most teachers would opt for Animoto lite which is the free plan they offer.
2. Creating an account is a simple, one step process and once you've signed up you're ready to create your videos!
3. Choose your video style. This will determine the look and feel of your video. When working with Animoto lite your video is limited to 30
seconds.
4. Choose pictures or videos to upload from your computer.
5. Once pictures are uploaded, choose the soundtrack for your video. Animoto offers a suggested soundtrack but you can choose another one from their collection or uploaded music of your own.
6. Customize your video with the following options (some options are
only available to Animoto pro subscribers): image pacing and video
style.
7. Publish your video and share!
*I created this video to be used at an open house at the beginning of the school year. It includes all of the teachers on the 5th grade team.
Animoto for Students:Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.
I would use this video as a tutorial for my students. It would be shown on a projection screen and students would follow along on their computers creating their own Animoto.
Possible uses for Animoto in the Classroom:
- Sharing class projects
- Publishing class pictures to website for parents to see
- Open house slideshows
- Field trip recaps
- Creating how-to videos
- Student generated videos to teach instruction
- Steps in a process
- Book reports
...the possibilities are endless!! Happy Animotoing!
Wow! What a great way to incorporate pictures and music into one. I could defiantly see myself using the program. Animoto could be used for magnet open house to show what the school has to offer.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun!! I can't believe how much I am learning. This would be so fun to take pictures of what we do all week and have it as the intro or ending to class on Fridays! My students love to see themselves and their friends in photos!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I know my students LOVE to see themselves in pictures, videos, anything! And they also love to see their work displayed. It gives them a sense of accomplishment and closure to a lesson. It makes them feel like all of the learning was worth it in the end because they have a finished product to be proud of! I think Animoto is so fun. If you check out the website for educators there are so many cool videos that could be used as examples in class before a project is started.
ReplyDeleteThis is so versatile it really could be used by any of us in our classrooms in a variety of ways. I can also see this as an assignment even my most apathetic students would get interested in
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. This program is so easy and simple and yet has so many possibilities. When I was looking around on youtube for some tutorials I found so many videos that kids had created and they were awesome! I think as we get older, it's harder to use our creativity to think of how these technologies could be used. But when we put it into the hands of our students, the results can be mind boggling.

ReplyDeleteI am just amazed by how simple this technology would be, it wouldn't take days for students to create a project as with some programs where they have to create their own transitions and do their own video formatting. And this would be so simple for teachers too, to be able to put together a little video introduction to a lesson. I can see some great applications for this and I am excited to try it form my own! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSo far from what I have read in this week's assignment, this would be the tool for my classroom that I would probably use. I like the smart board post as well, but I kind have already started playing with it and am figuring things out. Animoto is something I have heard of, but thought it would be too difficult to figure out. I have a hard time just figuring out how to snapshot a page for this blog or download a video. Through the directions you provided, I think even I can manage to use this tool. I also think using it for open house is a fabulous idea. The most usful way this tool can be used by the students in my classroom is for book reports or reviews.

ReplyDelete"I have tried a couple different technologies that put pictures and music together and this one is WAY simpler than any I have seen! I would not hesitate at all to incorporate this into a classroom activity seeing its simplicity! I am learning a lot from everyone's tutorials, I feel like I am way behind technologically!"
