Stixy and Furly

For Teachers:

As we are always trying to coming up with better and more sophisticated ways to enrich and enhance instruction, Stixy and Furly are booth tools I have found that will not only enhance instruction and assist curriculum, but also inspire.
http://www.stixy.com/ is a "bulletin board" type tool that allows users to post comments, images, files, blog, and so much more to collaborate on a particular topic.

To use Stixy, all you need is an account, which is free. This is a quick and easy tool to use and after tackling Blogging, this tool will be a breeze. According to http://www.stixy.com/, Stixy can help gather, organize, arrange, and share information. Created for the everyday user or ordinary person, not just professional, it is a designed application made to make life easier and information more assessable and useful. For the classroom, teachers can use this tool to create documents similar to word, spreadsheet or list like excel, and collaborate information with each other. The difference between Stixy and your typical Word and Excel programs as that Stixy is free of usual formats and constraints.

For Students:

Students can use Stixy for assignments such as Personal Finance or Accounting to create spreadsheets or documents like bank ledgers. They can also upload photos and videos for projects and share. It is easy to create documents and be creative with the visuals. This could be used similar to a blog but with more options and as a bulletin board for class discussion.

Furley

Furly is a web address assisting site. Users can copy and paste up to 50 URL's or sites addresses that will then be complied, shortened, and organized by Furly. This tool allows users to compile web addresses into much shorter and manageable URL's. This is a very helpful tool for teachers and students alike as the addresses used are shortened to addresses that are user friendly, meaning students (and teachers) do not have to remember long URL's. They are shortened.

For Students and Teachers:

Shortening the address and making them more user friendly not only saves instruction time but also allows for customization.
