Nothing But Trouble
Right now you could be thinking that I am trouble. I can be one to cause problems. Or you could be thinking that this guy had some trouble getting here since he is posting his first blog on the day it is due. Either way, you are probably right. For those of you that don't know me, my name is Lee. My wife and I share this Gmail account so I am not sure what name will pop up on my post. Some day I may get my own account when I catch up with the rest of the world and purchase a smart phone. I will be attempting to make a flyer for a basketball camp that we will be hosting this summer. No offense, but I hope that I don't have as much trouble as some of you; I am running a little behind and I need this to go smoothly.
I don't know if many of you know much about me outside of class and for those of you that haven't met me yet the answer is rather obvious. I know that I can be somewhat antisocial and that it may appear that I am always pressed for time. Pressed for time yes, but who isn't? I teach algebra and geometry at Omaha North High Magnet Center. I have been at North for five years now; I spent the first seven years of my career shaping the minds of middle school children at McMillan Magnet Center teaching everything from prealgebra to algebra and geometry. The subjects have not changed much and that goes for the students too. Freshman and sophomores are middleschoolers in bigger bodies.
We all know how much time teaching takes, but I am also the boys basketball varsity assistant. Basketball has become a year-round sport, so even outside of the season we are working on fundamentals, skills and character as well as academics. We develop kids through individual workouts form six in the morning to eight at night, whenever we can get them in the gym. Not to mention all of the open gyms and camps that we host or participate in.
Enough about the boys, on to the best part of being busy, my family. They keep me going and I love it. I have a wonderful wife with whom I will be celebrating ten years of marriage in June. I am blessed to have somebody who has many of the same interests and supports me through all that I do. She has become an important part of our basketball program at North. She has become the team mom. She makes meals on game day Fridays during the season, helps the kids with their work, gives advice and is just there when the kids need someone. She will do anything to help those boys.
On top of the team, we like to enjoy the outdoors, going camping and we are not afraid of a good hard days work. We just recently finished building a tree house for our two girls. Most of our time goes to spoiling those two. Mackenzie is our oldest. She is six and is just finishing kindergarten. She loves school and she loves to read; I am sure I can make an athlete out of her though. Jazlin is two and she is as stubborn as her grandfather. She can be a terror, but we can't help but love her. She is the daredevil of the two. They both make our hearts melt.
Hopefully you will be seeing a flyer and hearing from me soon.
