Final Project; Video Instructions via Wiki from School website

The journey is coming to an end. This by far has been one of the most difficult and frustrating projects I have ever done. I was originally going to do a podcast of exercises that we do in my class for circuit training and put on iTunes so the my students could obtain them along with a sub. After downloading numerous converters and paying $30 to upgrade my Quicktime player I had to look at plan B. Every time that I thought that I was making progress, something else wouldn't work. I tried to upload my video to teachertube.com, but it kept saying that I was getting a Generic upload failure. I felt like a failure. Then another idea came to my head. I decided to create a wiki page that was linked to my portion of our school's web page. I was going to put the video on there so that it was accessible. So that was exactly what I did. I created a wiki page linked to my school web page which contains my video on circuit training exercises. Here are the following items and websites that I used.

-Sony digital camera to take the pictures for the video
-Photo Story 3 to create my story which included dialogue and music
-www.looperman.com for the music heard on the video
-www.netministry.com to edit my school web page from home
-www.lists.svdpomaha.org to create my Wiki page

I have included a tutorial as well to show how to access the video. This is something that I could show my students or pass out to my students to use. I could also give this to a sub. The sub will have access to a computer and will be able to do this. I feel that it's easy to follow and the students should be able to do this. I suggest that you all try as well so you can watch my video. I apologize that I don't have the greatest microphone. I used one that was attached to a headset and the mouth piece was a little close to my face. I thank every for their help and feedback in this class. I have learned a lot from all of you as I hope you have with me. Please take a look and tell me your thoughts. Have a good 4th of July and Summer!

  1. I feel your pain Brian. I too had many setbacks when I was trying to create my project because incompatibility (did I spell that wrong?) and inaccessability. I too had to pay to use a creating site and upgrade a couple things on my computer. Then when I tried to work on another computer, agian I couldn't access all my information and programs. Furthermore, it actually took me hours upon hours (I'm guessing around 30 or so) to research all the different sites and avenues of how to even get started. It was difficult, but rewarding because in the end, I have something I can actually use in my class. Hopefully you can too.
